GARAGE WORKS SUMMER INSTITUTE:

Free performance workshop for NYC public junior high and high school students.

JULY/AUGUST, 2008

Now in its 11th year, THE WOOSTER GROUP will conduct its free performance workshop for NYC public junior high and high school students. Directed by Group member Kate Valk and conducted by Ariana Smart Truman, students work with a number of guest artists — actors, musicians, dancers, technicians — on theater games and exercises.

During the first two weeks, each day includes a session led by a guest artist in addition to regular movement training. Students often are paired with adult leaders (TWG associates and Summer Institute alumni) who participate in all exercises. The third week is spent refining material into a final showing for an invited audience of friends and family.

The Summer Institute takes place at The Performing Garage, 33 Wooster Street, NYC.
