The Summer Institute is underway! That’s our free performance workshop for NYC high school students that we conduct every summer here at The Performing Garage.

This year, we’re combining boxing with stories of teenage angst — using everything from classic texts to the little-known Schoolgirl by Osamu Dazai (often called the Japanese Catcher In The Rye). And we’re bringing in two boxers to train with us three times a week.

We’ve got a great stable of young contenders in this year’s Institute. There’s Malkiyah Prescott, a flyweight from Brooklyn with a mean jab. And how about Shantil Henriquez, the counterpuncher with heart that won’t quit? Or Makai Lewis, that peek-a-boo puncher with pound-for-pound power unmatched this side of the Poconos? And that’s just to name a few!

Come see us perform later this month! The showings are July 24 at 3:00 pm and July 25 and 26 at 7:00 pm. It’s gonna be a barnburner! The Performing Garage Punch-Out! The SoHo Slugfest!

But before the opening bell sounds for the showings, we need your help. Put our budgetary shortfalls on the ropes by donating to the Summer Institute now!

Thank you,
