Dear Friend,

The Performing Garage has been The Wooster Group’s home for 38 years, since the first performances of SAKONNET POINT in 1975. It’s where we’ve made all of our own work, and a who’s-who of experimental artists have developed and presented their pieces here.

Now we’re expanding the reach of our visiting artists program (The Performing Garage Presents) with the launch of a new Performing Garage website. The site will make it easier for artists of all disciplines to pitch their projects to us, and also showcase the work of past and upcoming resident artists.

And we’ll be showing more work of our own at the Garage, inviting audiences to open rehearsals and work-in-progress performances. The next rehearsals are in May-June, when we’ll be returning to TROILUS & CRESSIDA, the piece we started developing last year with the Royal Shakespeare Company.

In July, the Garage will be given over to teenagers when the 16th Summer Institute gets underway. The Summer Institute is a free three-week program for public high school students who are mentored by Wooster Group members and associates. This year they’ll be working with the Radio Plays of Sam Spade, and what mischief they cook up you can see on July 25th, 26th, and 27th.

We welcome you to get in on the action, by coming to the performances and rehearsals here—and by making a contribution. Please help us support these current and future artists. Any amount will be deeply appreciated.
